For my little brother.
Happy birthday bro.
This was inspired by a recent trip to Tokyo Disney. The details that Disney put into the theming in their parks is just unbelievable—posters in this style were dotted all over Frontierland, mostly advertising fake goods and services in a comic style.
I’ll bet most people don’t even notice them, but they add a whole level of depth to the experience.

I’ve always liked this phrase, attributed to Roger Brinner, and so I thought it would be nice to attempt to illustrate it.
One of the major issues (benefits?) of this project is the tight time limits. I’m trying to do this on top of my regular job. I only have a few hours per day to come up with the concept, sketch it, scan it, ink it, colour it, tweak it, export it and upload it.
It does mean that I don’t always get to spend as much time on each illustration as I would like.
It also means I’m getting more pieces finished than ever before.

This is a mixture of Illustrator and Photoshop and uses the exceptional Mesh Tormentor plugin for Illustrator. This plugin is free and you can safely ignore the warnings about it being Windows only—a Mac version is included in the zip file.

We’ll be building the shape in Illustrator using the 3D Revolve tool before going into Photoshop to texture it all up using clipping masks and blend modes and layer styles and all that modern doohickory.
