Finally a great post that walks you through ALL of the steps to get pear up and running in MAMP.

Only hiccup: typing pear -V produced the following error

Notice: unserialize(): Error at offset 276 of 1133 bytes in Config.php on line 1050
ERROR: The default config file is not a valid config file or is corrupted.

The fix is to delete pear.conf from /Applications/MAMP/bin/php/php5.3.6/conf

After deleting the config file everything is working fine.

I know this was a long time ago, but do you happen to remember what you did to get this to work. I have the same exact problems you had

Thanks Shawn,

This actually came from an object-based plugin starter kit that I'm working on that automates all that stuff so you only have to focus on validation and program logic (and not writing endless lines of HTML).

For example, creating upload fields is as simple as
$this->upload_field( 'field-id' );
. It enqueues and automates all of the relevant JavaScript and works the same with colourpickers.

You then just have to have to take care of the validation.

I hope to have it out in the coming weeks, but if I have time I'll whip up a quick preview/tutorial on how I did it.

Nice little tutorial.

I've been going through google searching for basic ways of creating a tabbed settings page for my plugin. This one was quite simple and easy to follow. It would be neat to see it expanded to show multiple different options such as colorpickers, uploaders, textareas, etc someday.

It seems that every tutorial I find so far stops after displaying the tabs.

thanks for the great start thugh :)
